Notes from the Little Flock hymn book by Adrian Roach:
Miss Caroline Dent was born Aug. 14th. 1815, being the great grand-daughter of John Collet Ryland and great-grand-niece to John Ryland (a hymn writer and Baptist minister). She was born in Milton, near Northampton where she was still residing in 1887, the last date known in her life. In 1854 she published a book "Thoughts and Sketches in Verse", mostly her own composition and the rest by her sister, Mrs. Trestrail. Her date of death is not available.
Miss Dent's hymn in 'Spiritual Songs' is no 449, "Lord Jesus, come, And take Thy rightful place". It is over 100 years since sister Dent penned her longing for the Lord to come. We can quote Paul's statement altered a little, "Now is our salvation nearer than when Miss Dent wrote her hymn".
