340: FATHER, we commend our spirits

by Miss Dorothy Ann Thrupp (1779-1847)
8.7.8.7.

sung to Evening Blessing midi score
by G. C. Stebbins (1846-1945)
 (8.7.8.7.)

1 FATHER, we commend our spirits
To Thy love in Jesus' name,
Love which His atoning merits
Give us confidence to claim.

2 Oh, how sweet, how real a pleasure
Flows from love so full and free!
'Tis a vast exhaustless treasure,
Saviour, we possess in Thee.

3 From the world and its confusion
Here we turn and find our rest;
From its care and its delusion
Turn to Thee, in whom we're blest.

4 By the Holy Ghost anointed,
May we do the Father's will,
Walk the path by Him appointed
All His pleasure to fulfil.
